New Zealand’s honey is in high demand worldwide. During our 1st visit to Taupo we stopped by the Huka Honey Hive to see the live bees and sample honey.
Bees! Anyone that has spent any time with me in the Spring knows I have a phobia of bees (well anything that flies and stings). The phobia is not logical as bees do a lot of great things; however, I get anxiety simply hearing a buzz sound. The kids have picked up on this unfortunately so I am trying to tone it down.
The set-up was cute and the girls loved the play area. The Bee movie was playing!
Cute shop with honey flavored everything. Some of their other items included lotions, face washes, candles and even wine.
We all sampled from their honey selection and took home our combined favorites. I purchased a New Zealand brand of face cream with the manuka honey ingredient.
The back area had ice cream and nice cafe’. We came back after our later activities to sample the sweets. They have some interesting names for their candies (or lollies if you are from this side of the World).
This was a huge hit with the kids and a must do in Taupo. Even Andrew and I enjoyed the free samples and shopping around.
