Hot Water Brewery in Whenuakite, New Zealand is the perfect place to stop following an afternoon on Hot Water Beach. This brewery is family-friendly with a playground near the restaurant patio. Little did we know they are also a holiday park with overnight accommodations available. Looking back we would have preferred to stay here considering their proximity to some of the best beaches and activities in the area.
Hot Water Brewery, by Don and Dawn Walker who are farmers with a vision. Based on the demand for accommodation and restaurants in the area, they added camp sites and cabins to their land and turned an old barn into a brewery and restaurant. Their vision paid off with award-winning restaurant and beer positioned in a prime spot for tourists. Hot Water Beach located just down the road is one of the Coromandel’s top beaches and famous for its bubbling warm waters that are accessible two hours either side of low tide. Tourists of all ages flock to this area carrying shovels to dig their own natural spa pools.
To be honest I do not drink beer though my husband was a huge fan. One interesting thing to note is they are cans only which keeps light and air out for fresher taste. They use a lined canned technique to prevent the metallic taste. Andrew liked the selection available too.
Nice to see Andrew unwind with a beer on this steaming hot day!
The restaurant atmosphere is relaxing. We were there right before Christmas so had the place to ourselves. I can imagine during the summer months that this place is hopping.
We enjoyed a cheese plate for appetizer and it was amazing!
Our girls ran straight for the playground while Andrew and I enjoyed quiet time on the restaurant patio. Oh how I wish all restaurants had play areas within view of my table!
I think she might be part monkey…

My main course choice was the steak with veggies. Yum!
Here is a view from the outside and you can see how they converted the old barn into a successful entertainment venue.
We enjoyed a lovely night out! This place would be great for families, couples or someone just passing through in need of overnight accommodation and excellent meal.
