Butterfly Creek, located around Auckland Airport, is the perfect place to visit for a few hours when picking or dropping off relatives/friends to the airport or if you need to kill a few hours before your flight. The park has a butterfly house, petting zoo, mechanical dinosaur section, salt water crocodiles and more. Tickets are sold separately for different attractions depending on how much time you want to spend at the park. We had plenty of time available so opted for full tickets to see all attractions.
The girls were able to watch the butterfly release and catch a few on their heads.
The farm animal exhibits captured the hearts of my girls. Their favorite part of the day was the bunny and guinea pig snuggling. Other farm animals included sheep, goats, alpacas, pigs, birds and chickens.
Butterfly Creek is home to NZ’s only salt water crocodiles: Scar and Goldie.
Other highlights are cotton-top Tamarin monkeys, reptiles and tropical & fresh-water fish.
This area is set-up like an outdoor museum where you can walk along the path while observing mechanical dinosaurs moving their heads around. There are opportunities to pose for pictures in front of these life-like figures.
Oh no! He got me!
On a day this nice you deserve a scoop of ice cream and a park play!
