Dream World

Our first full day in Australia was spent at Dreamworld. Gold Coast is known for its many theme parks so it only seemed fitting to explore the largest one.  Dreamworld has plenty of thrilling rides and combination animal park with koalas, kangaroos, and more.  This park reminded me of Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida where Andrew and I spent a day on our honeymoon (except with kangaroos and koalas). The girls wanted to hold a koala but due to age restriction I was given the privilege. They were able to get up close for a pat though.

The staff took some time to go over the facts about koalas like why the sleep most of the day (around 22 hours) and how their diet on eucalyptus leaves leaves them with little energy. The girls getting some more koala pats in.

Ella loved feeding the kangaroos. These were some well fed kangaroos and mostly kept to themselves in the resting areas (off limits to park attendees to enter).
