My desire to travel to the famous wine making region of Marlborough sparked after my 1st glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I had to go and taste for myself! We strategically picked our location based on walking distance to wineries and entertainment for our girls. We have visited some excellent family friendly wineries during our time in New Zealand with playgrounds, games and even archery. Of course all wineries have one thing our girls love… a big open field for handstands and cartwheels!
Vintner’s Retreat, located in Blenheim, is the perfect location for wine lovers like us! The name says it all! Giesen, Wairau, and Nautilus Estate are three of the wineries located within 5 minutes walking distance. The kids loved the amenities including a pool, tennis court, playground and trampoline. The front desk stocked movies and toys to borrow during the stay. Considering we only flew with two carry-on bags, the extra entertainment was a bonus.
Check out the view from our back balcony!
The Villa we stayed in came with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, dining area, open living area, BBQ patio, and enclosed garage.
A look at our villa!
Saturday morning consisted of exploring Pollard Park followed by patio lunch at one of the wineries. Could the girls’ picture sum up their personality any better? Wonder which one is the clown in our family…
We may have found a chocolate factory, cheese shop and playgrounds along the way too! After a couple tastings, we parked at our Villa and walked to the nearby wineries for afternoon snacks and more tastings.
A few more pictures of the surrounding scenery!
Do I looked stressed?
Cloudy Bay was one of the only Marlborough wineries I was familiar with before our trip. I am still a fan!
This was one of the more relaxing trips we have taken!
